National Poetry Month 2008
Did you know that April is National Poetry Month? Furthermore, April 17 is Poem In Your Pocket Day. To join the festivities, poems are hanging above the coffee bar and in the waiting room at my office. Can you guess where I placed Elizabeth Kuhn’s poem, Bathrooms?
Why not join poetry fans celebrating the power of words by printing some short poems for Poem In Your Pocket Day? Give a poem to each colleague and friend on that day. If you choose your poems wisely, you may impress the boss. At a minimum, a playful poem may help cure someone of a grammar-school-poetry-phobia. Poets.org is brimming with pocket poems in anticipation of Poem In Your Pocket Day. Celebrate the power of the poem to transport the family, co-workers, and even strangers on April 17. On the web: POCKET POEMS.
Don’t forget that April is also Grilled Cheese Sandwich Month. I am not certain how one commemorates National Grilled Cheese Sandwich Month, but my mother ordered one at Denny’s on April 7th. Unless someone starts National Grilled Cheese In Your Pocket Day, I think mother’s solution is enough for this celebration.
