Make Your Journal Work For You
- Dedicate five to twenty quiet minutes each day to your written thoughts
- Forget school rules. Neatness, grammar, spelling, and margins will not improve your journal.
- Follow the thread of your thoughts. Do not plan what to say. Write the first thing which pops into your head, followed by the second, then the third, and so on.
- Once you begin, write at full speed until your time is ended. Avoid any prerequisite to make sense. If you write something you didn't intend, leave it and move on. It may be important.
- Liberate creative ideas. This is a good place for successful experiments and creative duds.
- Privacy and freedom of speech are vital. Write what you wish. Allow no visitor and no editor on these pages.
- Intelligence resides in your emotional honesty. Do not sugarcoat feelings.
Journal writing uncovers powerful answers within.
